    Hi,

I am in Vientiane, and off until next Thursday. Would like to get away. I learned of an eco lodge and Phou Khao Khouay National Park from Green Discovery. It seems awesome: (http://www.travelfish.org/location/...unds/vientiane/phou_khao_khouay_national_park).

I'd rather do it on my own, and keep it low budget. Does anyone know how to get there - like, is there a bus from the morning market or something?

And as for lodging - Does anyone know if there is lodging for visitors?

    Thank you

    Hi pranaman!

Don't expect public transportation to bring you to the heart of Phou Khao Kwai. The best way to explore the area might be with a dirt bike (the mighty Kolao Sonanta can also do it :))
I would advise you to take Water Purification Tablet if you want to explore the area without a guide and go off roads. It is easy to carry and really useful when you need it.

You can stay for the night in Ban Nakhai if you are not afraid of lao lao: Bertrand from Vientiane Orchidées knows the area very well and he stays in this village with his clients. You might find interesting to visit his website: http://www.vientianeorchidees.com/en/trek-des-orchidees.html.

Attached a few pics I took close to Tad Xay waterfall.

Also for a weekend in the nature outside Vientiane: http://www.dreamtime-laos.com/.
Just Mike, Mike's hamburger if you are hungry, nature and calm.

    Hi Olivier,

Thanks. Went to Vang Vieng and really enjoyed it. I am hungry for more nature. I think I will go to the Dreamtime Eco Lodge this weekend if there is space.
