Companion animals are a part of community life for those living in the villages or bans that make up Vientiane.

While most people are familiar with the dog or cat that lives at the end of their street, they may not be aware of the increasing number of companion animals that are abandoned.

Public health threats do exist in Laos, many are associated with the dogs and cats that roam the streets.

PAWS 4 THOUGHT is a small group of people whose key aim is to improve human and animal health by focusing on:

    • Assisting animals in need to prevent suffering.
    • Education towards responsible pet ownership and dog bite prevention.
    • A fostering / adoption network which links people who would like to temporarily or permanently adopt an abandoned local dog or cat.
